Why “Chasing Sundogs?”
A “Sun dog” is the informal name for parhelia, or rainbow flares that appear around the sun like fragmented halos. They’re created when the sun strikes ice crystals in the air; while they’re most common during northern winters, sun dogs may be observed all year.
I chose the name “Chasing Sundogs” for two reasons: I have often seen parhelia when embarking on momentous journeys, and as a Christian, I seek the light in a broken world.
